An Image Per Day 10

Shelley Scraps A Drawing A Day
http://johnshelley.blogspot.co.uk/2011/09/drawing-day-1.html

These are some simple but detailed line drawings that I came across when searching for daily drawings. I liked the artists approach which was to create drawings with a pen, without sketching it out first and without any planning what so ever as, in my eyes, it's give a fresh and creative feel and almost seems effortless to create such detailed and original images.

I was intrigued by this artists pencil drawings of these big eyed girls in their individual situations and the various angles that they face. As a person who is fond of realistic pencil portraits when I discovered these images I had a feeling of interest towards them as they may not be realistic but the accentuating of the facial features give a  more characteristic look.

Giuseppe Colarusso Wacky Images
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2347976/Artist-creates-wacky-images-turning-everyday-objects-impossible-use-items.html

When I came across these images the idea of drawing around random objects was reinforced even more as I thought these looked like household items which have been combined to create a new purpose and situate almost in the same way as I thought I  could create with my drawings and objects.

Juice on tap: Squeezing an orange just got a whole lot sillier thanks to this dotty device

Batty bat: A ping pong paddle with a gaping hole in it

Beer we go: You'll be seeing double before your drink with this handy device

Crazy cutlery: Another of the bonkers images by Italian photographer Giuseppe Colaruss

Saw point: We're not quite sure if this new tool design cuts the mustard, or anything else for that matter

Goofy glasses: Now even the mythical cyclops can sport a trendy pair of shades

Something missing: A perfectly useful washbasin, save for one small detail

Life's a drag: Another of photographer Giuseppe's barmy pictures

I was quite fond of this idea, when I saw these images, of how the artist has drawn images of everyday items and has combined text that wraps around the items to give meaning to them and show what associations that person has with the specific items. This made me think of ways I could also incorporate text into my images of my jumpers and how I can give every jumper its own meaning. This also gave me the idea that rather than just illustrating 'pretty' jumpers I could also involve other items that I could design such as tea cups and coasters; that could possibly fit in with a feminine approach.

Naomi Robinson Illustrated Advent Calendar

When being set the brief the initial idea that I think came into everyone's minds was to create a Christmas themed image per day because after all the project was going to be carried out through the Christmas period. I quite liked the idea of the way this artist hasn't simply created Christmas linked images but has actually given the images a purpose which was to become an advent calendar. I think this idea gave the collection of images a more personal feel as it was acting as a count down to Christmas day and could be associated with excitement for the days leading up to the main day.

Naomi Robinson 30 Day Drawing Challenge
http://nyhagraphics.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/30-day-drawing-challenge.html

This is an artist who has set themselves a challenge of all the work they intend to create and what it is they aim to produce on specific days. I think this works as a great plan as they are aware of what they want their overall outcome to be and this way by challenging themselves they will be able to create a variety of items easily because they will have already planned it all out in advance.

Another one of my ideas the image per day brief was that I could use everyday items that I may randomly come across and place them on a page and create a drawing that would show a situation or be telling some sort of story. This artists has presented the exact same idea that I had although my intentions were to illustrate more detailed images. I'm fond of the way this artist has been able to use various versions of one well known item and has given each of those versions their very own integrated illustration.
